Kickstart your schools in 2021
Win:Win is often an overused term and it's fair to say that good news has been in short supply recently. However, the £2 billion Government Kickstart scheme could provide a win:win for schools and multi academy trusts. Kickstart has the aspiration to create hundreds of thousands of Government subsidised job placements to support young people and to support the post-COVID economic recovery.
Kickstart promises access to a large pool of young people and an opportunity to provide much needed resource to MATs or groups of schools. It also promises a much needed opportunity for young people to get paid exposure to work in a learning environment
Naturally, these roles must be new jobs and supernumerary to the current staff and there should be no requirement for extensive training prior to start. The roles must be for a minimum of 25 hours per week over six months. Funding for the roles – which will be paid at least the National Minimum Wage for their age group – will come from the government, alongside other employment contributions. They should not require people to undertake extensive training before they begin the placement.
Premier Advisory is currently discussing the Kickstart programme with a number of its clients. We’re also looking to make connections with other organisations in the areas where are clients operate to ‘combine forces to gain resources’. Some of the areas we are discussing with clients in respect of Kickstart include:
- Business Admin
- Finance Admin
- Maintenance and Facilities
- COVID Testing and Admin
- Remote Learning Support and Materials Creation
- PE and Coaching
- Subject Assistance.
If you are looking to take advantage of the Kickstart scheme for your school, want to find out more information or would be interested in discussing collaboration with schools or trusts in your area please complete an expression of interest and we will be in touch.
